BLAGOVESHENSKY BRIDGE (formerly known as Lieutenant Schmidt Bridge) is the first permanent bridge across the Neva in St. Petersburg, the Lieutenant Schmidt Bridge was named after Pyotr Schmidt, who took part in a revolutionary uprising in 1905. Blagoveshensky Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in the city. It is equipped with eight beautiful arches and connects Vasilevsky Island with the mainland part of the city. After reconstruction, which was completed on August 15, 2007, the bridge was renamed to Blagoveshchensky Bridge.
