MISHKA, Fontanka, 40 (in the basement) (Metro: Nevsky Prospect; Mayakovskaya; Ploshchad Vosstaniya). Mishka opened in early 2011 and has already become a very popular DJ bar/cafe for local scenesters as well as 20something tourists and ex-pats located on the most central intersection (Nevsky prospekt and Fontanka) with very reasonable prices. During the daytime, it is more of a cafe (with free wi-fi!), where one can relax, read and/or chat and enjoy a selection of very good sandwiches and fresh salads. In fact, it's one of the few places that serves in line with the Western understanding of "salad" - a huge bowl of fresh greens with a choice of other fresh delicious ingredients to add, rather than the traditional Russian understanding of salad which is usually a lot of mayonnaise with other ingredients and often without any greens at all.

If you are a coffee or an ice-cream lover, you simply must visit VENEZIA (VENICE) as it is one of the most popular cafes in St Petersburg. The
interior can be described as exquisite and simple. The not too pricey
menu is a plus. And gigantic portions of coffee and ice-cream (lemon
flavour is a hit!) leave no room for delicious cakes!

ОХОТНИЧЬЯ ИЗБА (OKHOTNICHYA IZBA) is one of the top restaurants serving Russian cuisine, and the
name is certainly appropriate. The wooden walls of the "log", so finely
decorated with animal skins as trophies, together with the Russian
traditional oven create a cozy warm atmosphere and bring you back in
time. The restaurant is well known for its wide variety of game meat
and well prepared seasoned meat (bear, hare, elk, deer, etc.). The menu
includes 15 kinds of shish kebab (Russian: шашлык, pronounced
"shashlyk") cooked on the glass brazier right in the dining hall, and
much more.

When in Paris, you can't not visit the Eiffel Tower, and when in the
St Petersburg suburbs, you can't not visit the Podvorye ( "Coach
House" ). The PODVORYE (Russian: Подворье) is a renowned restaurant located in Pavlovsk that
has gained a reputation as "the most authentic Russian restaurant".
Since 1993 this place has been hosting actors and aristocrats, famous
sports figures and politicians from all over the world. It is highly
recommended that you visit the restaurant for the Pancake Week
(Масленица). There you will have a chance to entertain yourself by
playing old Russian games, and traditionally for this day, burn a
scarecrow at the end of the evening.
