The Trans-Siberian Railway trip is a trip across all of Russia that is full of beauty, diversity, new experiences, and thousands of kilometers that are totally worth it. Here, we try to give you just a tiny glimps of what this grand route has to offer.The Trans-Siberian Railway is perhaps the world's most known train route that connects western Russia to eastern Russia and China. The railway starts its path in Moscow and only travels eastward while going through the Ural mountains, the steppes, the huge taiga and then finally stops in Vladivostok, a city that lies near Japan. But Vladivostok is not the only final destination. You can travel to China or even Korea through this legendary route. Over 9,000 kilometers are covered during this adventure and several different types of land can be discovered. The adventure takes about 6-7 days, but it is definitely worth it as you are just not confined to a train for 6-7 days straight, but you can get off at a few locations to stretch your legs, get some fresh air, or see new parts of Russia. Lake Baikal is perhaps one of the most spectacular points during the route that passengers will see. There are three different types of travel routes of the Trans-Siberian Railway that one can go on. Here they are: • The Trans-Siberian Route: Moscow – Vladivostok – This route goes through Siberia and through to the Far East of Russia. • The Trans-Mongolian Route: Moscow – Ulaanbaatar – Beijing. This route will take your through the Mongolian endless fields, Gobi desert and through Mongolia and China. • The Trans-Manchurian Route: Moscow – Beijing – This route is the most direct way by train to get from Russia to China. Reasons to take a trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway: 1. It is the longest railway in the world and on many celebrities bucket lists. 2. You will be able to see many aspects of Russia, Mongolia and China that one cannot see just by traveling to the major cities in those countries. 3. Siberia in all its glory can be seen with its several different habitats that make up the vast land of Siberia. 4. You will perhaps meet some of the oddest and most interesting people in your life during this trip, as Russians love to drink and chat on trains. ;) 5. This trip allows you to relax mentally, physically and gives you a nice alternative from expensive air travel between Europe and Asia. Here are the several stops during the train route that we suggest to get off at and check out: – Ekaterinburg (about 1800 km, from the starting point) – Novosibirsk (about 3300 km, from the starting point) – Krasnoyarsk (about 4000 km, from the starting point) – Irkutsk (about 5100 km, from the starting point) – Lake Baikal (60 km from Irkutsk) – Ulan-Ude (about 5600 km, from the starting point) – Khabarovsk (about 8000 km, from the starting point) – Vladivostok (about 9200 km, from the starting point) More interesting Facts: • 9288,2 km is travelled along the route. • The largest bridge is over the Amur River – 2612 meters. • The longest tunnel is 2 km long. • There is a unique building at the 5311 km. The Sludyanka station building is made from marble. • The railway crosses 10 time zones. • The Trans-Siberian passes by 87 cities and towns. • The route crosses 16 large rivers. • The Trans-Siberian passes Lake Baikal and 207 km of the way goes along the bank of the lake. • The Trans-Siberian passes the Sea of Japan; 39 km of the way are going along the bank of sea of Japan.
