Abandoned five star hotel "Nothern Crown"In our city, on the riverfront Karpovka, living out its years abandoned, because it was never popular, is the "Nothern Crown" five start hotel.Initially, the Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1988, it was decided to build a three star hotel, and later, still not constructed buildings were awarded five stars. Construction of the building was laid in the late '80s. Design and construction of the company was from the Yugoslav company "Monteks." In 1995, work on the "Northern Crown" was almost completed. Towered over the embankment was a modern five-star luxury hotel with 247 rooms, 5 restaurants, 6 bars, 2 cafes and a private swimming pool and sports complex. In the early 90s, the unfinished hotel was taken over by the City Hall of St. Petersburg, and in 1992, the Bank of Saint Petersburg bought the hotel, and in 2004 the " Northern Crown "became the property of" EVROFINANCE MOSNARBANK." By this time, the hotel was already outdated, branded «Le Meridien» was scheduled for 2008. Today the building is abandoned.
