SINGER HOUSE |
The Singer House, or more well known as Dom Knigi, can be found on the corner of Canal Griboyedova and Nevsky Prospect. The building is very well known in St. Petersburg and is located across from Kazan Cathedral and next to Nevsky Propsect metro station. The building is an official historical landmark and a great bookshop. A sewing company originally used the building. The architects of the building wanted to copy large buildings in New York but could not as the law in St. Petersburg states that no building downtown can be higher than the Winter Palace. After the October Revolution, the structure was a publishing house. In present times, the building is used for offices and a great bookstore.
