Before you read the text below, we would like to inform you that the city officials have changed the program of the City Day in St-Petersburg, thus, here is the UPDATED SCHEDULE. The main celebration of St. Petersburg’s foundation will be held from May 27th to May 29th. The great celebration of City Day will feature several great performances and host service famous artists around the city to commemorate the founding of St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg residents and visitors will become participants in a large-scale citywide festival. There will be a great open-air international jazz festival, circus program, music, live performances, dance, and theatre performances around the center of the city. Also the City Day holiday will have skateboarders, and other extreme sport action. Military bands will provide music also, to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed. May 27th: Traditionally, the holiday starts at 10:30 am. This includes an opening ceremony of flower lying at the monument to Peter the Great at Senate Square. At 22:50, there will be a great fireworks display from Vasilievsky Island. May 28th: The festivities continue at Ploshad Vosstaniya at 12:00. A great motorcade of motorcycles and scooters will drive down Nevsky Prospect. At 12:40, the Palace of Youth Creativity will begin a grand carnival on Nevsky Prospect with great theatre and music performances. Military bands and representatives of European consulates will also be in attendance. Artists from 20 different countries will also put on shows that will amaze those who attend. Then at 13:20, the festivities will enter Palace Square. At 13:30, the official opening ceremony will take place at Palace Square. So come out and celebrate the founding of the greatest city in the world! St. Petersburg! May 27th to May 29th! |
