Opening of the Museum of Ice in St. Petersburg On December 28th, 2012, a museum of ice will be opening in St. Petersburg! The fantastic museum has an area of 500 square meters and will house more than 15 ice compositions created by famous Russian artists. The facility keeps the temperature at -7, so the statues and works of art will never thaw. ICE-LAND has used more than 110 tons of crystal clear ice and more than 30 tons of snow to produce all of these sculptures with the artists. You will be able to see sculptures resembling famous magical characters, fantastic creatures, and heroes of famous books and cartoons.
