From July 18th until August 31st, there is a great sand sculpture festival at the Peter and Paul Fortress. Dozens of teams from around the world has gathered on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress in order to create something unimaginable. When looking at the sculptures, it is hard to believe that everything is really made of sand. The festival changes every year. For example, last year the beach turned into a real cartoon island, and in 2011 the townspeople admired masterpieces of world culture made entirely from sand. The event will continue to amaze people and on these days, everyone is able to visit some informative master classes.
