August 30 - September 1

At the end of the summer, there will be a gathering all of the most vibrant and exclusive representatives of the international automotive industry on Elagin Island right here in St. Petersburg! This auto show will be one of the highlights of this summer, because there will be such a variety of unusual vehicles in which not everyone can find just in any country.

On September 14th, 2013, hundreds of cyclists in tweed jackets and other related accessories, vintage, will be riding their vintage bicycles that date back to the beginning of the XX century, will drive large column on the Square of Arts (Russian: Площадь Искусств) along Nevsky Prospekt to the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The first idea of «Tweed Run» first appeared in 2009. One day a young man named Ted Yang-Ying  went into one of the Edinburgh shops where he bought a pair of tweed trousers and woolen knee-highs. Ted loved the traditional English style, which he gathered like-minded people who love to bicycle and early 20th century British fashion. The event has already managed to gain popularity, and will be held in St. Petersburg for the third time.

From July 1st and until August 17th one could enjoy an amazing exhibit of giant Ladybugs in the Southern Atrium of one of the city’s largest shopping malls called Galeria, located on Ligovsky pr. 30 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. The author of these fantastic art-objects is Henk Hoftsra, a Dutch artist famous for his large-scale environmental art projects.

In the South Primorskaya Park (Yuzhno-Primorsky park), another historic fountain has recently opened after renovations. The fountain is notable for being the largest fountain in St. Petersburg.

The bowl of the fountain reaches a length of 100 meters and has a width of 20 meters. The fountain opened on August 15th 2013!  The water of the largest in St. Petersburg fountain comes from 225 jets that soar into the sky to a height of 8 to 16 meters.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, August 12th and August 13th, residents and guests to the city will be able to enjoy the amazing spectacle of the brightest meteor shower this year. The main thing is not to forget make a wish when you see the meteor shower, and your wishes will come true. ;)

They say that Saint-Petersburg weather is as changeable as London's. And a nice sunny day may turn into a rainy day just within minutes.

This morning (August 8, 2013) the entrance to the metro station "Gorkovsakya", was closed. The reason for the closing of the metro is from the Muslim celebration called "Uraza-bairam." The celebration happens at Gorkovskaya because the biggest mosque in the city is located a few minutes from the metro. The celebration last from 8:15 am until 10 am.

An interesting deal started yesterday at the Leningrad Zoo. Guests to the zoo now can take up an offer to go for a walk on the lawn in front of the pavilion where wild animals are roaming. The visitors will be able to walk with incredibly charming hedgehogs and meerkats. ;)

In the middle of August, the residents and guests of St. Petersburg have a great chance to be sent on a sky adventure! The Igora Sky Fest of 2013 is a unique celebration in the air, which includes tens of colorful blimps, kites, colorful gliders, and air balloons in which you have an opportunity to ride! The festival will last from August 17th to August 18th.

In the middle of September, come to Peterhof to see the traditional ceremony of the closing of the fountains! On the huge stage will be live music and the sky will be lit up by an amazing laser show. There will also be an enormous firework display as the town of Peterhof continues the tradition of the closing of the fountains.
