The IV International Tea & Coffee Festival has kicked off in St. Petersburg and will last till August 28. Visitors will have the chance to taste and buy tea, coffee, sweets and honey from India, Iran, Pakistan, China, Africa, Middle East, Latin America and the CIS. The festival will also feature its traditional international competition "Tea and Coffee" and also the competition Narodny Kapteysting (People Cuptasting). |

St. Petersburg is for the first time hosting an international art forum “Petersburg graffiti-2011. GraFFFest”. The art forum is mainly devoted to the synthesis of graffiti and other forms of modern street and digital art such as animation, film, photography and digital art. The chief guest of the festival will be Evan Roth, founder of Graffiti Research Lab. |

A ceremony dedicated to the release of the new film by famous Danish film director Lars von Trier
will be held on the nights of 6 and 7 August at Mirage located at
Bolshoy Prospekt of Petrograd Side. Viewers will be able to watch two
films directed by Trier: "Melancholia" (2011) and "Breaking the Waves"
(1996).
Till 11pm, guests will be entertained
with the musical project Super Special psychedelic dub ambient project.
The first session will start at 23.59.
A ticket for the night costs 500 rubles.

St Petersburg has become the first Russian city to offer tourists with the “St Petersburg Guest Card”. This card is a unified e-card for tourists and is similar to European travel programs operating in many cities around the world. This tourist e-card starting from August 2011 will be designed for 7 days. This card will offer you discounts of 10% to 50% when staying in hotels that are members of the program, travelling by taxi, on public transport “Podoroshnik”, visiting cultural, entertainment centers, cafes and restaurants, city excursions on “City Tur” buses and water excursions. The base price will include a small number of journeys by public transport. Tourists will also be able to add necessary amount of money for additional travel. A children's “Guest Card” will also be released at the same time and it will be twice as cheap. |

The first qualifying round of the round-the-world race, in which each member country must by itself determine the strongest national team, will start on August 7. Both professional hitchhikers and beginners can take part in the race. In the second qualifying round, the difficulty level will increase - all teams will compete on a joint track. Only the top 10 crews will make it to the finals - they will take off in August 2012 around the world. The route of the final race will pass through the territory of Russia, China, Canada, USA, Central America, North Africa and Europe. |

St Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko has confirmed that to attract more tourists in St Petersburg, plans are being put together to build recreational camps. City leaders in St Petersburg plan to build campgrounds for tourists, who cannot afford to stay in expensive hotels. City officials have already been allocated eight plots ranging from 1 to 10 hectares (from 2.5 to 25 acres). Land will be leased for 15 years. 2-3 thousand cars should be able to park at the campsites, and there will be approximately the same number of places for people to stay. Published information on six companies has revealed that they have an interest in constructing the campgrounds. |
