One of the most popular holidays in Russia is VICTORY DAY. Every May 9th, all of Russia celebrates the day of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The country shows respect in many ways to the great suffering, courage, and heroes of the war. The most popular way of showing respect is wearing the orange and black St. George’s ribbon. The main ceremonial event 2012 in St. Petersburg and all of Russia is scheduled for May 8th and 9th. |

On July 20th, at the Petrovsky Stadium, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will rock the town with their best hits and loud, energetic music that is loved by millions around the world. It is surely to be a sold out concert that will never be forgotten by those who attend. The Chili Peppers have returned on tour with their new album called I’m With You. The Peppers will be playing at the Annual Tuborg Greenfest Music Festival in St. Petersburg, which features the best worldwide stadium concert bands. Everyone who participates will experience a beautiful city of bubbles. A city where there are no taboos or bad moods. It will be a city in which everyone is happy. Let’s for one-day plunge into a pleasant atmosphere of freedom, love, and understanding. The event will take place with bubbles and bright clothes. If one doesn’t have bright clothing, wear wings! The PRODIGY group is coming to St. Petersburg on May 30th at the Ice Palace for a concert that promises to be amazing! One of the most famous electronic groups on the planet will be playing in front of a packed stadium. The Prodigy began in 1991, when their first mini album “What Evil Lurks”, premiered with the great works of a young Liam Howlett. The single was seen as what was to become the future of rave/electronic music, and the music quickly became in rotation in several clubs. This original cd is almost impossible to find anywhere nowadays, but it was the start of the legend that is today, The Prodigy. |

March 31st, 2012, at Palace Square, the people of St. Petersburg will celebrate Earth Hour. Dozens of people will gather at exactly 20:30 and light candles as a sign for the importance of the future of St. Petersburg and the Earth. Every year on the last Saturday in March, millions of people around the world turn off their lights for an hour. It is a symbolic gesture to show the importance of energy consumption and that we should give the Earth a break from electricity. Earth Hour is a symbol of respect for nature, and a concern for the limited resources of our planet. |

The annual graduation of schools in St. Petersburg, also known as scarlet sails, will be taking place on June 23rd to June 24th from 11 pm to 4 am. This tradition will be broadcasted throughout Russia, and this year’s festival will be attended by at least 24,000 graduates of St. Petersburg. Also accompanying the graduates are around one million residents and guests of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Novgorod, and Pskov regions. |
