On March 17th, 2013, St. Petersburg residents will be celebrating Maslenitsa at 300 years St Petersburg's anniversary park. The theme of this year’s festival is somewhat of a comic celebration featuring aliens. The crowd will contain extraterrestrial beings and little green men.

Four thousand people in St. Petersburg will sing on the steps of St. Isaac's Cathedral

On May 26th, 2013, the citizens of St. Petersburg may end up in the Guinness Book of World Records. 4,000 people are going to come together to sing on the steps of St. Isaac’s Cathedral as part of celebration of City Day in St. Petersburg.

Soon, all advertising structures, monitors, and logos will be removed from the roofs on Nevsky Prospect. They are contrary to the requirements of current legislation on advertising and information, with the majority of the leases with the companies expiring soon, said "BaltInfo."

Three new five star hotels will open in St. Petersburg this year. In the “House of the Lions” on Voznesensky Prospect, will have the first ever in Russia "Four Seasons hotel". The InterContinental Hotels Group will launch the "Hotel Indigo" on Tchaikovsky Street, and on Pravda Street in May and there will be a five-star hotel "Hermitage", created in conjunction with the state museum.

On March 23rd, 2013, turn off your lights for an hour! This year, Earth Hour will be observed from 20:30-21:30 on Saturday March 23rd. Hundreds of people will gather on Palace Square and will light candles at exactly 20:30 as a sign that the people who observe this green holiday can play an important role in helping our planet.
