The show will include luxury, sport, and classic cars and will focus on retro-technology. For the first time, the residents of St. Petersburg and its guests will be able to look at the coach and private car garage of Tsar Nicholas II, government service cars, and an impressive collection of vintage cars.

Closing of Peterhof Fountains

On September 15, 2012, the fountains in Peterhof will be closing until the spring season starts again. Last year, around 40,000 people attended the closing ceremony of beautiful Peterhof. The attendees did not include only citizens, but also people from around Russia, and Europe, to see the “northern capital” and the wonderful closing ceremony, with a great perfomance by Paul Brun. The organizers of this year's ceremony promise something new and different. Bear in mind that all hotels surrounding Peterhof are occupied already, and transport is sure to be full but available.

Mini Transport Libraries

mini Libraries

Starting in September on transport stops, subways, and parks, there will be the mini libraries established in a new project around the city.  This project does not require an id or passport, just take a book, read it, and leave it at any other library in the city. Its fast and easy and the organizers hope that it will be a success. The idea is great, as millions of people use transport everyday and what is the best thing to do when on transport? Read! These open libraries are already quite popular in Europe. They first appeared in Austria, then in Germany and Switzerland. Let’s hope that St. Petersburg will be a success as well!

Already for several months, one city resident of St. Petersburg has been in the metro each morning wishing people everywhere good wishes and the best of luck. Recently however, he met stiff resistance from the police.  The good man can be seen every morning near Sadovaya metro station. He wishes everyone a good day or encourages a good mood.

The awesome project called Etazhi or “floors” in English just opened their loft for a visit! The area gives the visitors of the loft a great and beautiful view of St. Petersburg. If you are interested in photography, you can capture a beautiful panorama of St. Petersburg in any direction! 

Entrance costs 150 rubles. You cannot just see Ligovsky Prospect, but much more than that!

Starbuck in St-Petersburg

Starbucks will be opening finally in St. Petersburg at the end of autumn according to the newspaper “Vedomosti”. The American chain is most likely to appear in the Galleria shopping center, Piterland, and Mega Dybenko.

The company supposedly already signed a five-year lease, and the company is already looking for employees for its St. Petersburg branch. The menu does not just offer delicious types of coffee and coffee drinks, but also muffins, cakes, cheesecakes, pies, cookies, sandwiches, and salads. The Starbucks thermo cup is also a world known symbol for coffee drinkers, which will be available at these locations. The average check in Moscow is 300-400 rubles, which is expected to be the same in St. Petersburg.

Zombie Walk

On August 25th at the Tavricheskiy Garden in St. Petersburg, zombies will take over the streets! There are only a few rules to this event. The participants must take the idea of dressing up and acting like a zombie to heart. Blood, gore, wounds, everything it takes to look gruesome and zombie-like, do it! Movements must be very slow, and zombies do not know how to run. The zombies are concerned with the self-preservation of themselves. The zombie apocalypse is now in St. Petersburg! So come out and join it before it’s too late and the zombies make you one of their own against your will.

Stalingrad blockbuster 2013

Russia’s first big-budget 3D movie dedicated to one of the bloodiest battles in history - the Battle of Stalingrad, has ended shooting and will soon be ready to hit the silver screen.

The “Stalingrad" blockbuster war drama is due for release in Russian IMAX theatres in 2013. Filming took place at several locations around St. Petersburg, and has just been completed. Now the movie is in post-production.
