By one o'clock in the morning on May 30, the St. Petersburg fire department managed to eliminate open burning of the Institute of Technology’s roof. The fire partially collapsed the roof of an area of about 600 square meters, including the famous dome. The total area of fire was about 2 thousand square meters. 33 units of fire equipment and about 500 personnel were needed to put the fire out. |

On the Petrograd side in the area of Prospect Dobrolyubova, there have recently appeared cool tulip seats which are truly an art facility. The chairs are made in the form of closed tulip buds. On June 14th, and June 16th-17th, residents of St. Petersburg will be able to see a night sailboat show. This year, two international sailing regattas, Adventure Race 80dg and Ust-Luga Cup, will pool their fleets for the biggest sailing event in 2013 in St. Petersburg. The romantic event starts on June 14th. As part of the festival program at 14:00 at Blagoveshensky Bridge, there will be a parade of sails, which will feature 23 boats from 8 countries. City residents will enjoy a beautiful spectacle that will be visible for several hours. |

At a press conference dedicated to the celebration of the 310th anniversary of St. Petersburg, journalists confirmed that the firework show on City Day this year wouldn’t take place. The official declaration of this announcement was given yesterday by the vice-governor of St. Petersburg, Vasily Kichedzhi, stating that the nearest fireworks show will take place only on the day of the 70th anniversary of the full liberation of the Nazi blockade of Leningrad on January 27, 2014. The show is best seen from the bridges of downtown St. Petersburg or from the embankments that surround the Neva River. But the ultimate way to see the show is to go up and down the Neva River on a boat. Everyone this year will be able to board a comfortable boat to travel along the rivers and canals of St. Petersburg!
